Creating Sky Items

"You know what a print consultant told me recently?
He said to focus on what you do well and sell the living daylights out of it."

Good advice any day, but especially when it's time to decide what to put on the shelves of your online store. This topic describes how to update a skyshelf item or create a new one.

skystore-mainmenu

From the main menu, select Manage Skyprintstore then Make / Edit Skystore Items.

ButtonAddButtonChange Click either the Add button to create a new sky item, or the Update button to edit an existing one. For this demo, we'll update Flyers, a skyshelf item entered earlier.

ANote
To get rid of a skyshelf item you no longer use, you can either delete it permanently with the trash can button, or temporarily disable (and later re-enable) it by clicking the button to the right of the trash can.

Click the Product button. Make sure the Category is still set to Digital, then change the Configuration to D4/1, color on front, black on back.

skypricer-paperoptions

Click the Paper Options button. Select the standard (base) paper and one optional paper by clicking the buttons shown on the right. This will give buyers the choice of two kinds of paper on which this item can be ordered.

Click the Option 1 checkbox and select Letter Fold (3 panels).

skypricer-quantities

Click the Quantities button. Here you select the range of quantities in which you'll offer this item in your store. You can change and delete any of the quantities on the left side of the window without affecting the quantity sets on the right. Whatever quantities you enter on the left will be in effect for this skyshelf item only.

Select the 1 - 50 quantity set and clear the bottom three quantities of 10, 25 and 50. Fewer quantities mean fewer prices to enter when it's time to upload. You can safely ignore the Sort button. The program will sort on its own as soon as you close the window.

The final entries we'll make are for File Prep, Design, and Proofs. All three fields are free form - you can enter any value you like. Clicking the left checkbox when the field is blank will import the defaults you set earlier in My SkyStore.

Clicking the right checkbox will include the option price in the base price of the item, reducing the number of variants you have to enter. The downside is that the option then becomes mandatory - it's no longer selectable. Proofs should probably stay optional in any event, as we did in the example. On the other hand, when File Prep is checked in the left box, the right box is checked automatically, making file preparation an integral part of the skyshelf item.
